present packaging: map paper & ribbon

I love maps, and what better way to package a present? I bought a sheet of map wrapping paper for £1.50 from a shop called Gift, some purple tissue paper and some curling ribbon. I wrapped up smaller gifts in tissue paper and wrapped them together in a piece of the map paper. I popped them into a white paper bag, and decorated it with starry washi tape. I think it looks lovely :) very effective - what do you think?

saving a squirrel

Little did I know when I put my squirrel patterned socks on this morning, that I would be embarking on a squirrel saving adventure. Mark & I saw this little squirrel outside the library after we'd popped into the village. I was fascinated that I could get so close to him, and then after taking these photos realised he was injured. We deliberated over what to do, as he kept trying to climb the tree but every time tumbled back down. We settled on popping in to tell the vets on the way home.

The vets gave us a box. We went home, unsure of what to do. But both felt sad at abandoning the poor little squirrel. So we armed ourselves with crackers (what else for a squirrel? we had no nuts!), 2 tea towels and the cardboard box. Mark got some thick gloves from work, and we set about saving him. Mark picked him up and put him into the box, and we took him to the vets, where he has hopefully now been seen to & is resting. We will call up tomorrow and find out :)

We both feel better for saving him, and have officially named ourselves squirrel heros :) haha, hope you are all having a lovely day.

Munch's visit home, Indigo & star nails

A few more photos from my visit home as promised :) Munch went to stay, so here he is with Indigo! And a couple of photos of Indigo with her lunch bag - as she now does two full days at playgroup - she loves taking lunch! Last but not least, I experimented with some nail transfer things - you can just about make out the stars on my thumb & ring finger. It was quite tricky, I might do a step by step next time I try it :)

Hello lovely readers, who I have dreadfully abandoned over the past week or so. I have spent most of my time being awfully ill with more dizzy spells and sickness, and I spent a few days at home. Where he has stayed until I go home again next week :) these photos include... an Orla Kiely delivery, new butterfly washi tape, Dan & Zenobia, Dan's gift to Zenobia of a massive sweetie hamper that had a Wonka golden ticket in!!, Indigo's experimental hair do, the magazine it took Indigo over half an hour to choose in the paper shop, Phoebe & Phoenix with their makes :)

a painting

A painting I was commissioned by my sister Zenobia, of her & Dan, as a gift for Dan since she leaves for uni on Saturday. I finished this painting whilst I was at home last week, I do miss painting and enjoy it when I do it! Does anyone else like painting or drawing? :)

home! family, flowers, cake!

Zenobia's presents for uni

Phoebe's green fingers!! No-one in our house is into gardening, but Phoebe seems to have taken to it as her plants have survived, and she even has a sunflower!!

Lemon drizzle cake that I baked and which I have to say was delicious, I miss baking! Lynn came over in the evening and had some too, we arranged our Tate trip and our silver clay day.

Indigo :) who came out with some of the funniest things as usual! She wants Munch to visit next time I'm home, and when I said he could she ran around singing 'Munch loves broccly' (broccoli haha)

Lynn changing Phoebe's sunflower into a bigger pot :)

Indigo's picture of me

Tomorrow I will show you a painting a did at home this week. I loved being home - and I was sad to leave so soon, but will be back next week too :) today was a long day at work! Hope your weekend has gotten off to a good start. I'm now off to watch X Factor followed by Aladdin :)

Orla Kiely for Uniqlo

This morning, I woke up bright and early in anticipation of the Orla Kiely for Uniqlo collection launch online. Only to discover it didn't start until 9am!! I've already spent many hours on the preview deliberating over which piece I wanted most, but as you couldn't view them properly it was hard to know!

I settled on Dress B in dark gray - I adore the playful print, but the colour is perfect for Winter. I'm already looking forward to toughening it up with my leather jacket and biker boots! Heidi over at Louie's Mummy also ordered this dress - great minds!!!

I was a bit naughty and bought a top too, but at these prices it would have been rude not to. Especially seeing as the last collection sold out within 4 hours. I chose T-Shirt D of the graphic long sleeve tees in beige. There is something very dreamy about this top that I couldn't resist - and nor could my mum, as she is getting one too!

What do you think? Have you ordered anything? :)

a hearing aid & a busy day

Hello there :) this picture sums up today pretty well!! The most important part to note, I think, being that little device on the bottom left. It has been a very busy day, we were up and out by 8.20am to pop into town, I worked 12 - 2 and had the hospital at 3.30pm. Since then we've had dinner, tidied up, and are now chilling out with Coronation Street on +1 before we put the above film on. 'In Time' was recommended to us by my brother and his girlfriend (Josh and Gemma) so looking forward to seeing what it's like... have you seen it??

My hospital appointment today was to have my 'ear piece' fitted, which I had the mold made for last time. Unfortunately, despite having this little device, it doesn't help me at all. I am frustrated to say the least, as the lady who dealt with me didn't listen to me (ironic??) when I tried to tell her so. So I have this fascinating little thing, and I even have a black velvet box for it. Which, sadly, is where it will be staying!

As well as In Style magazine (which has Clinique freebies this month & is £2.50 in Tesco only), I picked up some bits in town this morning. It was mostly things for my mum, as the twins are going camping soon and needed some essentials. But this gorgeous cushion, which I fell in love with as soon as I saw, was just £4 from Primark - barg!! They had a lovely starry bedding set in the window, but sod's law we couldn't find it anywhere in the shop. The other things pictured are also Primark, 3 pairs of floral socks for £1, a bear necklace for 50p (how cute!), and a pair of Ultra Soft Super Skinny jeans in bottle green. These jeans are supposedly meant to be the equivalent of Topshop's Leigh jeans - I picked these up for my mum but I'm tempted myself! Has anyone got any?? Are they really that good? :)
