Daughter & Bear's Den at Liverpool Anglican Cathedral 22/04/13

One of the things on my 25 by 25 list is to see more bands. So on Monday evening, Mark & I set off to Liverpool to see Daughter, supported by Bear's Den. The venue was the stunning and beautiful Liverpool Anglican Cathedral, which I had never visited before. Mark & I are making plans to go and visit in the day, as it really is the most breathtaking building. The scale of it is just unbelieveable, it is so huge! Bear's Den are a band that Mark & I had listened to a couple of times, and we hadn't realised that they were supporting Daughter. It was wonderful to hear and see them live, their music made me smile & they're definitely worth a listen! Daughter were all I expected them to be; hauntingly beautiful and enchanting. The echoes of Elena's eerily beautiful voice filled the high ceilings of the cathedral; the passion and pain of the lyrics could be felt in every heart present. It was really something very wonderful to witness, and I have to admit that I felt my eyes fill with tears often. There are lines in the songs that really hit home, and would resonate in anyone who has ever felt loss and hopelessness. In such an atmospheric place, it was an amazing experience. The Tracey Emin installation at the back just added to the atmosphere, reading 'I felt you and I knew you loved me' - something else I felt happy to witness.

The video above on YouTube is the recording I made of Daughter playing Youth, please give it a listen and experience their beautiful sound for yourselves :) I'd also just like to say sorry for the quality of the photos, I didn't want to use my flash! And a big thank you to anyone who sent me get-well wishes - it was very much appreciated and I am feeling myself again now :)
