Daytrips: The seaside!

A couple of weeks ago Mark & I, mumma bear, Willow, Zenobia, Kayleigh and Indigo all went to the seaside (Ingoldmells) for the day. The twins (Phoebe & Phoenix) were on holiday at the seaside with our lovely friend Bronwen, so we all met up and spent a wonderful day together. It involved sunshine, rollercoasters, dodgems, slushies, hot cafe food, buying rock, the market, arcade machines, sand in our shoes, walking along the sea, building sandcastles and seeing the amazingly beautiful moon on the journey home. Oh, and of course a delightfully tacky seaside portrait where we didn't realise the photo was being taken!

All photos were taken with my 36mm film lomography camera & some are double exposed.

Where is your local seaside? I always miss the sea when I get home!

Merry Christmas you beautiful lot!

Rufus, Mark & I would like to wish you lovely people a very merry Christmas! I'm posting this on Christmas Eve because Christmas day is sure to be crazy in the Brown household! I hope everyone gets what they wished for, and I hope you all have a wonderful day surrounded by the people you love. See you in a few days! x x x

Rules Answer all ten questions below, make sure to add The Christmas Cracker Tag logo (above) somewhere in your post, tag as many bloggers as you like to do the tag, comment on the blogs you have tagged to let them know!

One: What’s on your Christmas list?
I don't really have a Christmas wishlist, with my birthday being December 1st I usually ask for anything I want then :) I'm excited to see what I get though!

Two: What’s on your Christmas Day agenda?
For the first time in a few years we're all staying at home, my brother Zach and my brother Josh and his family are coming round for presents and dinner so I'm really excited to have a more relaxing version of Christmas this year!

Three: How much Christmas shopping have you done?
I shop throughout the year because I have so many people to buy for, I always aim to be finished by December because there are so many birthdays in my family at this time of year too.

Four: What’s been your biggest ever surprise gift?
I have an awful memory but last year Mark got me tickets to the Harry Potter studio (I promise to post the photos in the New Year finally!!) and I was so surprised and excited! Even the letter I got saying I was going to the tour was so exciting to me haha, I'm such a Harry Potter geek and I've made Mark one too now.

Five: When do you usually put up your Christmas tree?
It's tradition in my house for it to go up on my birthday, December 1st! Though I think it went up on the 2nd this year because on the 1st we were at the Harry Potter studios :)

Six: Do you have a special outfit planned for Christmas Day?
I'm not entirely sure this year! Half of the day is inevitably spent in pjs because it takes so long for all of us to open our presents!

Seven: Do you have any plans for Boxing Day?
Usually each year for Christmas us and all of our family friends have dinner together in our hired out village hall. We eat, sing Christmas carols and have a lovely time together. We're doing it on boxing day this year instead!

Eight: When did you stop believing in Father Christmas?
I have no idea!! But I'm still managing to keep my little sister Indigo convinced that he's real, she's 5 in January :)

Nine: What’s your favourite Christmas scent? (Candle/Perfume)
I love the smell of cinnamon but find it a bit strong in a candle!

Ten: What do you love most about Christmas?
I have three whole weeks off work and I'm spending time with my family and friends, and soon Mark too. I love Christmas because I get to see everyone and eat delicious food and even drink a Baileys or too (chocolate flavour this year!).

I'd like to tag anyone who'd like to do this, I know I'm a bit late with it though!!! Enjoy your day lovelies :)

Cadbury World with the little people

When Mark & I were on our holiday with my family, we took my littlest brother (Phoenix) and sisters (Phoebe and Indigo) to Cadbury World. The journey didn't go without hitches, it was pouring down on the way as it was the night/morning of the terrible thunder storms. There were roadworks through Birmingham, and we were delayed a lot. The children got restless in the car, but after finally arriving all was well again, and luckily the time restrictions had been lifted on that day.

We were given a few bars of chocolate each to get us started and we were on our way! There were lots of helpful and interesting facts being read out by special screens, pressing buttons, and people in fancy dress. All the children thought it was a lot of fun when we were sitting in one area and the benches shook us like the cocoa beans are shaken! It was a really fun day out, and I'd recommend it to anyone, even if you don't have any little people to take! We took lots of photos, ate lots (mm melted chocolate! with wine gums in Mark's case!), went on a special car ride, wrote with chocolate, jumped up and down on an interactive floor breaking bars of chocolate up, pretend surfed, bought souvenirs from the gift shop and spent time in the amazing play area (sorry, I think the play area is little people only!).

Are you craving chocolate now? I am!

Four balloons & the gang

Perhaps they are not stars in the sky, but openings where our loved ones shine down to let us know they are happy

This year, on the four year anniversary of my dad passing away, we decided to release four balloons. One for each year. Usually we do lanterns, on dad's first birthday after his passing we did a huge balloon release, but this year lanterns were out of the question what with the big fire that occurred. The words we chose this year for our newspaper memorial are an Eskimo proverb - such a lovely idea.

Our closest friends & family gathered at my mum's house on the evening of Thursday the 18th July to celebrate and remember my dad. I'll take you through the two photos, but there is one person missing from them and that is Phil. Phil was a good friend of my dad's and they shared many a happy time together (many times have I heard the story about my dad and the grenade? in the garden! Though I obviously need to hear it again - I have an awful memory!).

Photo 1 L-R: my boyfriend Mark, myself, sister Willow, littlest sister Indigo, dear family friend Bronwen, nephew McKenzie, sister Zenobia, mumma bear, littlest brother Phoenix, brother Josh, sister Phoebe (twin to Phoenix), niece Caitlin, brother Zach and his labrador Prim, friend and Josh's partner Gemma, friend Maxine.

Photo 2 L-R: Gemma, myself, Indigo, Willow, Bronwen, Zenobia, McKenzie, mumma bear, Phoenix, Josh, Phoebe, dear family friend Lynn (hidden behind) Caitlin, Zach and Maxine.

We had a lovely, fun and laughter filled evening with old friends and all of our large but wonderful family. I love all of these people very much, and I am missing them already!

Our holiday in Leicestershire

Hello lovelies, oh how I've missed all of you and your blogs this last couple of weeks! Mark & I went to stay in Leicestershire with my family for our holidays this year. We planned the dates around my dad's four year anniversary. We had such a lovely time, and the two weeks flew by! We spent time with family and friends, and I especially enjoyed seeing my friends.

We had lots of fun playing on the bouncy castle with the children, especially when we added all the bears into the mix! We made coca cola ice pole slushies (so good!), and ate far too much tasty Summer time food. We had a lot of fun playing Frustration with everyone, sat in the garden enjoying the sweltering hot sunshine (a far cry from the rain on the Wirral right now!). We took the children to see Despicable Me 2, and Mark & I went to see World War Z the following Wednesday (scary! Zombies don't make you jump in a book!). I had a wonderful time catching up with Suzanne and Stacey (left) in Costa, when I finally made it after getting the week wrong!! I spent a day shopping with my best friends Nicola & Leah (who I'm already missing!). Lynn, mum, Mark, Willow, Zenobia & I spent a day clearing out our loft (mammoth task!) and found some real gems. We also enjoyed spending time with Fluffy the house rabbit!

I hope you've enjoyed my photos, and there are more to come, including some lovely ones from our Cadbury World trip :)
