SHOP: The Idea Owl stationery

Hello lovelies, how are we all doing? I have a fantastic post for fellow stationery addicts this week, showing off a package I recently ordered from The Idea Owl. Let me tell you a little bit more about who they are and what they do. The Idea Owl is a family run business based here in England, specialising in Kawaii stationery. For those of you who don't know what that means, it's basically all things cute! New stock is added each week, and there are two ways to shop.

Shopping via Instagram:
The first way is via the website, the traditional way. Then we have Facebook or Instagram, which are similar. The method I used is via Instagram. The rules are simple, you send Donna a message including your PayPal address and your postal address. You then have 4 weeks to add anything you like to your package, by commenting on the pictures. After 4 weeks, you will receive your invoice and a few days after payment your package will arrive, lovingly and carefully packaged in cute paper bags!

I really enjoyed shopping this way, you have to check regularly on Instagram because new stock is added all the time and it's first come first served! I nearly missed out on my beloved little llama stickers, luckily Donna had them back in and remembered I wanted them, so she saved me some until I confirmed I still wanted them!

I had to restrict myself, and try to be careful not to choose too many things! It can easily mount up, but receiving your package is so exciting, especially when you can't remember what you've ordered haha. I'll definitely be ordering from The Idea Owl again in the future, it will be a wonderful occasional treat I think.

Can you see anything you'd like to order? I'm hooked on stickers! Now... where to find a penpal..!

Handmade Mondays #11: Laura Blythman

Good morning lovelies! Today I'm going to share with you the work of Laura Blythman, a very talented illustrating/designing/makes awesome things kind of lady. I first fell in love on Laura's Instagram, take a peek and I bet you'll hit follow. Who can resist a dose of pretty coloured sunshine in their day? It was Laura's use of gold foil that initially caught my eye, and I wish I could get my mitts on one of these fabulous 'throw glitter in today's face' prints, but they are of course sold out. If you'd like to find out more about Laura and her work, there's a wonderful interview over on The Finders Keepers blog, and a list of other such loveliness in the Press section of Laura's website. I love finding out more about creative folk and the ways they work!

01. She should dance print
I'm a lover of quotes as you'll know if you follow me on Pinterest, any wonderful quote in a wonderful font/handwriting will make it's way into my favourites. What I like about this particular print is how lighthearted it is, and how it incorporates an eye-catching pattern in with the handwriting. I'd say the fantastic pattern and the quote itself are on equal footings in my affections!

02. Mr. Feathered Rabbit Limited Edition print
The subtle yet striking use of colour is one of my favourite things about Laura's work, the beautiful blue and gold tones in contrast with the simple black lines is so aesthetically pleasing. The different textures and patterns all make for a very unique style, and I love every piece! This particular print is a limited edition of 50, so you know you'll be one of very few people to own and display such a gorgeous illustration in your home. Click through for a closer view of each piece.

03. Feathered Fawn baby vest
As easily as I can picture each piece in my future child's nursery, I also want to buy all of the baby vests! How sweet is this little design? And if you're tempted too, you can get 20% off any clothes, bags and cushions at The Club of Odd Volumes" right now with the code 20PERCENT. Don't worry if a child isn't in sight in your immediate future either, they do adults clothes too!

04. Dream Catching print
From the same collection 'Love, Lyrics, Neon' as the 'She Should Dance' print, it's no wonder I was also drawn to this pretty dream catcher illustration. With similar subtle colouring and pretty creative patterns, this is another print that both catches and holds my attention. I think it's one of those pieces that you couldn't walk past without looking twice!

Handmade Mondays #10: The Little Fox

Good afternoon lovely readers, I'm back with a lovely new Handmade Monday to share with you all! I really missed doing these posts, and I'm so happy to resume sharing wonderful independent shops with you. Today is one that I have bought quite a few pieces from, including gifts for others (and myself!), and I'm sure you're all going to love The Little Fox as much as I do. Despina in her own words is a picture crafter, imagination enthusiast and daydreamer. This is evident in her beautiful creations, which have the ability to effortlessly transport you to another place, a place full of friendly animals and pretty girls. Despina's art is also surprisingly affordable, with such talent and beauty going into the work you receive, you'd expect it to be far pricier. I certainly wouldn't mind paying more for The Little Fox's gorgeous pieces!

01. Books Can Take You Anywhere
I actually bought this picture for my sister, Willow, for Christmas. She too is a bookworm and I thought this was pretty perfect. Every book enthusiast knows that once you're suitably engrossed in a book, your head is in another world in another time. Despina has perfectly captured that feeling in this whimsical painting.

02. Naptime Owl Original Painting
This original painting is listed at £45.77, an absolute steal for an original piece of work! Some shops sell prints for this price, and I can only imagine how beautiful an original piece by The Little Fox actually is. The prints are so beautifully done, and in such high quality, that the originals must be stunning. I wish I could afford to snap this up right now, but I'm definitely adding an original piece to my growing The Little Fox wishlist. How sweet is this sleepy owl and his little bird friends?

03. The Owl And The Pussycat
The owl and the pussycat is one of my favourite poems and I love to see new takes on the Edward Lear classic. There's something so serene and peaceful about this scene, the smiling moon and the gentle waves lapping against the pea green boat. It's something I'd love to hang in a nursery (or anywhere in my future home for that matter!) for all to see.

Let me know your favourite piece from The Little Fox once you've had a look round, I could add them all to my favourites! :)

Stationery: Santoro London

Hello lovely readers! As you may have noticed, Little Five Friday is on hiatus until next week, but today I have a lovely post lined up for you. After getting in touch with Santoro London last week, the lovely Rebekah arranged for a gift parcel to be sent out to me. The parcel came wrapped in brown paper, and we all know that brown paper packages usually contain wonderful things! I was over the moon to arrive home from work and find such lovely gifts waiting for me, carefully wrapped in pretty lilac polka dot paper. Rebekah addressed the parcel with this pretty card, including a kind message inside - thank you so much!

First up we have the Eclectic Hardcover Notebook and the Slim Label Folder from the Watercolour Birds Collection. This is one of my favourite collections from Santoro London, and birds are my favourite. I think I could be a future bird-watcher in the making. The front and back pages of the notebook have gorgeous bird sketches, and each alternating page has either a birds nest or a little bird in the corner. The labels are gorgeous! They range in size from tiny to large and suit all kinds of uses. You can see I've popped one on my Paperchase notebook that I've been using for my study notes. The detailing on these stickers is beautiful - I can't wait to use them for all different kinds of things.

The other Santoro London collection I was sent gifts from is the Mirabelle Mergirl Collection. I picked the Mergirl design out as my favourite in the Mirabelle range, it's just so pretty! As Rebekah knows I'm studying from home, she picked out things that would be useful in my studying. The little Eclectic Pocket Sticky Notes With Pencil are so handy for marking pages in my study books, and the little Mergirl design certainly brightens up my study days! As does the beautiful Glitter Button Pencil Case, which has two separate zipped compartments. It's great for keeping my highlighters and pens separate inside, and saves them being strewn about my room and being hard to find when I need them. Talking of pens, the lovely If Only Pen writes wonderfully in black ink, and everyone knows I can't resist a pretty bit of stationery! The lining of the pencil case is a gorgeous pink patterned fabric - the details on all of the products are perfect and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them or to give them as gifts myself.

Mirabelle The Secret Eclectic Card £2.50
Mirabelle If Only Pen £4.99
Watercolour Birds Eclectic Hardcover Notebook £9.99
Watercolour Birds Slim Label Folder £7.50
Mirabelle Mergirl Glitter Button Pencil Case £9.99
Mirabelle Mergirl Eclectic Pocket Sticky Notes With Pencil £4.99

What do you think of Santoro London? Have you heard of any of these collections before? Another favourite of mine is the Once Upon A Time Collection - The Frog Prince design has me in serious lust!

Little Five Friday #9

Good morning! I've got some lovely snaps to share with you this week, and a gorgeous Post of the Week too. Last weekend with my family was perfect. We arrived late Saturday night, and got up at 6.30am to go to a car boot sale with my mumma, and our family friends Lynn & Maxine. There were many treasures to be had, and our new space is looking very homely indeed now. We spent the rest of the day wandering in the woods with my younger siblings, before the Liverpool game and a delicious Chinese with all of my family. I'd like to say here, that mumma bear is on Day 12 of no smoking - she's doing amazingly, well done mumma!

1. A sneaky peek at our new room at my mum's! I can't wait to share it with
you all once it's totally finished. It's coming together!

2. Phoebe and Indigo climbing this lovely big tree. After a short time in a
rather boring, very muddy playground, we went for a walk around the woods at
Burbage Common. We discovered a little den, and had a lovely time exploring!

3. I received the most beautiful double sided gift wrap from Nicola over at
The Chalk Lion. It's such good quality and so pretty!! Nicola is a lovely
lady too, look at her gorgeous designs on Etsy.

4. I've been enjoying my last few weeks at work before the big move. I finish
on the 5th April, scary! I really do love my job, so I'm quite sad to leave.

5. This week's post of the week goes to the very beautiful Emma at Highland
Fling
. Every time I see one of Emma's posts, she makes me want to be more
lithe and ladylike. This post is probably my favourite ever, with Emma seen
wandering in the woods, pretty curls blowing in the wind.

OOTD: Shopping in Maison Scotch

Dusky pink & black wool biker Maison Scotch via TK Maxx £30.00 sale
Love is the new black sweater Maison Scotch via Ebay around £30
Dreams scarf All Saints Christmas gift
Oversized tote bag Luella Birthday gift
Molotov Kenta jeans All Saints £75.00
Felicia ballet flats Sam Edelman via Brand Alley £35.00
Little Hex earrings Wolf & Moon £12.00
Love bracelet The Little Deer Welcome gift

Hello dear readers, I've been a little bit absent over the last week but I'm slowly making my way through all of my favourite reads. This is an outfit I wore to go shopping in Liverpool, there's a little bit of a love theme going on! This Maison Scotch jumper is my favourite, it has buttons up the back adding something a bit special. The pretty little bracelet was sent to me by The Little Deer when I became a part of their Blogger Programme. It's so delicate and feminine, not something I'd have picked for myself but a lovely addition to my outfit.

Sam Edelman makes the best ballet flats, this is my second pair and I'm in love. They're so comfortable, and I've had my first pair for over a year and they have hardly any signs of wear. If you're looking for the perfect ballet flat, I'd definitely give Sam Edelman a go.

What's your favourite sweater/hoodie like?
I'm lusting after a new one from Zoe Karssen!

Little Five Friday #6

Good morning lovelies, we've woken up to sunshine here for the past few days and it's wonderful! There's a real feeling of Spring in the air and some days I've even swapped my boots for ballet flats! Mark & I have enjoyed two days off together this week, involving plenty of shopping and looking for home decor inspiration for when we move. Mark finally got his start date for the Royal Mail through, the 7th April - exciting!

1. A very indulgent box of Cadburys Milk Tray. It's still half eaten, mostly
because I don't like half of them haha. My favourite chocolates are always
the orange ones, how about you?

2. On Monday Wolf & Moon offered free shipping, so I snapped up another pair
of these gorgeous Little Hex studs. They arrived the next day and I wore them
for the first time yesterday - it's love! There are more colours at The Little Deer.

3. Do I even need to say anything?! Rufus features on my list of reasons to be
happy every single day!

4. No one does colour like Kate Spade! This iPhone case & supercalifragilipstick
are from TK Maxx at £12.99 and £9.99, what a bargain! The lipstick will probably
feature in an OOTD soon.

5. Last but not least, my new post of the week goes to Sam's heartwarming
100th Birthday post. Sam's Great Grandmother turned 100 - what a special day!

What was your favourite blog post this week?

OOTD: Thrown on casual

Bowler hat - Helene Berman via Ebay £7.50
Boucle jacket - River Island £25 sale
Floral wreath t-shirt - All Saints gift
Black biker seam jeans - Zara £9.99 sale
Leather Chelsea boots - TK Maxx £35
Embroidered brooch - given to me by my dad

This is one of those comfortable, thrown on kind of outfits that's slouchy enough for mooching around the supermarket on a Sunday afternoon (and buying an Easter egg, Gü desserts and chocolate muffins... do you think I was in a chocolate mood?).

This is one of my favourite t-shirts, and of course the beautiful design has the All Saints aesthetic written all over it. Paired with my trusty boucle jacket and my new Zara sale jeans, it makes for a casual daytime look. These Zara jeans have been worn pretty much non-stop since I got them, you can't see on the photos but they have biker-esque seams on the legs which make for a bit of added detail and some interesting leg patterns when I take them off.

Because of the thrown together feel I didn't want to add any jewellery, but this sweet little hand embroidered brooch was the perfect addition. It's one of my favourite things, and one of the treasures my dad gave to me. He was a treasure hunter, and loved having a rummage at car boot sales and a good bargain (see where I get it from?!).

What is your 'throw on' outfit?

My lovely friend Samantha of All I Know Now is raising funds to volunteer this Summer in Thailand. Any donations, however small, will help send Sam on her way. So even if you can only spare £1, please head over to Sam's JustGiving page and give what you can. It's for a great cause and Sam really deserves this amazing opportunity, if you're not familiar with her blog or her story then just know that Sam has come such a long way and I'm really proud!
