Little Five Friday #10

Hello! It's a very late it's-almost-Saturday post today! Work has been so busy this week with Mother's Day coming up and doing extra hours that I've not had chance to catch up with any of my favourite reads. After what's sure to be another busy day tomorrow, I'm looking forward to a totally chilled out Sunday blogging and possibly starting to pack!

1. This week I ventured out on my own into the nearby woods for a nice walk,
I don't usually go out on my own but it made a nice change to just wander. I
got chatting to a lady with a dog, and it was dark when I got back home!

2. After our only and very lovely day off together we went to Frankie & Bennys
for dinner. It's our favourite, I had a delicious spaghetti bolognese and Mark
chose a chicken burger. I love the atmosphere in there!

3. We've been picking up old CDs we like lately in places like charity shops
and That's Entertainment. I picked up Britney's Oops I did it again album,
I was a big fan once haha. I love rediscovering the oldies! Do you have any
guilty pleasures music wise?!

4. We finally got around to seeing The Grand Budapest Hotel this Wednesday,
it was as weird and wonderful and full of quirky characters as expected. I
fell in love with Zero and Agatha just like I did Suzy and Sam.

5. This week's post of the week goes to Josie and her lovely blue make. As
soon as I saw a picture of this make on Josie's Instagram I knew it was going
to be this week's favourite! I love the reason behind Josie deciding to get
more creative and do more things she wants to. The clutch bag is so sweet!

Do you have a similar series on your blog? I'd love to see it!

OOTD: New hair & Blair Waldorf

Check headband - Burberry via Audrey
Half & half choker - Cinderela B via Steph of faiiint
Navy blazer - Zara via Barnardos charity shop £1.99
L/S top - Orla Kiely for Uniqlo around £14.90
Molotov Kenta skinny jeans - All Saints £85
Frankie flats - Sam Edelman Birthday gift
Gold & black leather chain bag - Vivienne Westwood via Ebay £102

Hello lovelies, I'm finally sharing my new hair with you! I had my hair done almost 5 weeks ago now, and I still love it just as much now as I did then. Me and my mum went to Paul Kavanagh Hair Studio nearby to where my mum lives. I've not had my hair salon coloured for many, many years, and I'm always reluctant to try someone new. Paul is a friend of the family, and my sister Willow's best friend's dad (did you get that?!).

On the whole I kept my hair my natural dark brown, and Paul put foils through the underneath - some caramel and some copper. It took a very long time (all day!!) and Paul was very precise, making sure everything was perfect and as we wanted it. He cut my hair too, and it's much more manageable now than before. I love it, it's exactly how I wanted it, colours and all! I love how subtle it is, but if I pin back the front section of my hair I can make it more noticeable.

I wore this lovely Burberry headband I won (thanks Audrey!), and loose straightener curls from the day before. I think this whole outfit has a Blair Waldorf feel to it - thanks mostly to the headband! How much of a bargain was this blazer?! In my local Barnardos, all clothes are £1.99 each!

Were you a Blair or Serena fan?
Don't forget my Ebay auctions end tonight!

OOTD: Tartan layering

Bowler hat - Helene Berman Ebay £7.50
Zip back top - Zara via Ebay around £6
Burgundy pencil skirt - Topshop via charity shop £2.99
Super cosy black opaque tights - Primark £3
Check shawl - Matalan £8 with discount code
Leather Chelsea boots - TK Maxx £34.99

Happy Halloween lovelies! I know my outfit posts are few and far between, but I'm often a lazy dresser! I'm also unhappy with my hair at the moment, I thought having a cut would help but I still dislike it! I just don't know what to do with it and end up wearing it tied up all the time. I'm thinking of having it dyed or having a fringe or something, I'm just indecisive!

I don't wear many colours generally, so this burgundy pencil skirt is unusual for me. I couldn't resist it at this price in the charity shop though! I like how it looks with the oversized Zara top over it, and the zip detailing down the back of the top makes it less plain. This is one of my favourite tops, I have a polkadot one too. The sleeves are fitted but the body is oversized - my favourite! With the pencil skirt being obviously fitted, I knew I'd need to wear something oversized on my top half as I'm quite body conscious and prefer to layer up and more importantly cover up!

Speaking of cover ups, how gorgeous is this check shawl from Matalan? I saw this over on Charissa's blog, and when I realised it was just £10 knew I had to have it. Luckily for me, there was 20% off when I ordered, and free delivery to store - bargain! It really is like a big tartan blanket, that's shaped to fit around the back of your neck and to go over your arms. It's so comfortable and warm, and I can't wait to get more wear out of it this season.

It was lust at first sight between me and my Chelsea boots. On our trip back to the Lakes, we popped into Lancaster town for a spot of shopping. I'd been searching for the perfect pair of leather Chelsea boots that fit well for a long time. I first saw these in brown and said to Mark 'these would be perfect in black'... and on the next shelf there they were! One pair of black leather Chelsea boots in my exact size - 6 and a half. It was meant to be!

Have you got any Halloween plans? Mark & I are going to watch The Nightmare Before Christmas (which Mark has never seen!!!) and carve our own pumpkins together for the first time.

OOTD: Sonia by Sonia Rykiel via charity shopping

Glazed Berry Different Lipstick Clinique part of a gift set
Horse stud shoulder blouse Zara charity shop £6
Tapered cuffed trousers Sonia by Sonia Rykiel charity shop £3.49
Miss KG Lola ballet flats Kurt Geiger £5 with Elle giftcard

Hello lovelies, this is an outfit I wore to the hospital and work last Wednesday, when it was sunny! So sunny that I found it very hard to keep my eyes open, and keep the scrunched up expression off my face! I really just wanted to show you what my Sonia by Sonia Rykiel trousers looked like on - they were pretty impossible to take a flattering photograph of when laying flat or hanging due to them being black. I couldn't believe my luck when I picked these up in one of my local charity shops for a tiny £3.49, and in my size too. They're so lightweight and comfortable, they fall just on the ankle which I think is perfect for the better weather. The pockets and insides are lined in blue cotton - all about the finishing touches!

I decided to give my new leopard print ballet flats their first outing, for my 9.10am appointment at the hospital. This was a big mistake! My heels have only just recovered, I'll definitely be needing a heel grip to cushion my poor feet from these unfortunately. I think it has a lot to do with the fact that my back physio is making me wear a heel cushion in only my right shoe to try and realign my spine or something - awkward! I couldn't think of any better top to pair with my lightweight trousers than my gorgeous lightweight Zara blouse. I think it adds a little bit of personality to any outfit :)

Haul: All Saints, Ikea, Warehouse & charity shopping

Last weekend, Mark & I were both off work so we decided to make the most of it and go out! Our first destination was Ikea, I'd spotted this gorgeous blue and white bedding that I knew I had to have. It was just £15 for a double with 4 pillowcases - bargain! Does anyone else love walking around Ikea? I love seeing how they've set all the rooms out, I'm one of those people that used to spend hours just decorating my house on the Sims! We also picked up a couple of dinner bowls for when we have spaghetti, and I got all this wonderful stationary. I didn't even know Ikea did stationary, I was in heaven! It was so cheap too, the tissue paper was something like £1.30 for a pack, the tags £1, the notebook £2.25 ish, and the wrapping paper was 50p (I think it was on offer). We had the most delicious cinnamon donuts, but we weren't keen on the hotdogs!

After we took some frozen meatballs home which Mark's nana requested, we decided to head out to Cheshire Oaks. It was the first time we've been on a Saturday because I've always worked the weekend, we decided not to go on a weekend again - it was manic! Maybe it was because it was the day before father's day, but there were just masses of people. Despite it being so busy, I didn't come away empty handed! In the All Saints outlet I got the long sleeved basic top, which was just £8.40 instead of £35. I've worn it loads since, it's so comfortable and thin - it's perfect for layering. I also got my mum one of these tops in grey.

I couldn't go to Cheshire Oaks without visiting the Warehouse outlet, Warehouse is starting to become one of the most prominent brands in my wardrobe. I couldn't resist this lilac jumper, it was so soft and comfortable, and it was just £10 from £42. My final purchase of the day was the Warehouse skirt. I've been looking for a skirt for work for so long, but I'm fussy when it comes to skirts. I don't like them too short! This one is perfect, it's slightly shorter than I'd been looking for as it sits a little above the knee, but because it's so full and flared the slightly shorter length doesn't matter. It's heavy too, so I won't get caught out in the wind! It was reduced to £17 from £45.

The other little picture is a sneak peek of my bargain trousers. I picked these up in the charity shop, they're Sonia by Sonia Rykiel and I paid a tiny £3.49 for them. I've scheduled a post for tomorrow with an OOTD featuring these - they're lovely!

Have you bought any bargains lately? What do you think about charity shopping?

An unexpected gift, and some serious study procrastinating led to an upheaval of my desk on Sunday! This is the before photo on my Instagram, and these are the photos taken during/after. The photos are as follows...

My special photo purse with photos of my dad inside, 8. My trusty old favourite paints, 9. Our memory jar - mason jar complete with post-it notes handy to write little things about the day, 10. How Mark & I met card, 11. Mason jars, cloud stickers & bear postcard from Paperchase, my paints in their case, 11. Belle & Boo postcards from Paperchase and one from the lovely Heidi, 12. & 13. Does anyone else love organising and re-organising things? I love my little space :)

a new addition, munch!

After a couple of hours in work this afternoon, Mark came to walk me home and we had lunch. It was such a nice sunny day that we decided to go for a wander round the village, the charity shops :) here's a photo of our finds...

Mark managed to pick up Command & Conquer for the PC in a special boxed edition, he was very pleased! I picked up a little Peppa Pig library of books for Indigo, a Peppa Pig opposites book, Jacqueline Wilson's Bed & Breakfast Star for Phoebe as she loves Tracy Beaker, and a couple of Horrid Henry books for Phoenix and Phoebe to share. I also got a lovely little book called Baby Bear's Rhymes To Remember, which I think Indigo will love when I sing the rhymes with her!

And this is the new addition to our little bear family! Isn't he gorgeous? He has a button under his tummy, and if you press it he makes grizzly bear noises. He was just 50p! We have named him Munch after Edvard Munch :)

We enjoyed getting to know Munch :)

I have unpacked my bag to repack it again today, as I am finally travelling home tomorrow to see mumma bear and my family and friends :) I am looking forward to some home time, but I will miss Mark and the bears. Mark found the tiara which was meant to go home with me last week, and couldn't resist putting it on even though his face indicates otherwise (he just wanted to look as though I made him do it on camera!!!!)

Renoir, Matisse & Munch :)
Sorry it's a bit of a short post tonight, feels like there's loads to do with having work tomorrow, needing to get a doctor's appointment in the morning, and then travelling home. Hope you've all enjoyed your start to the week :)
