OOTD: Markus Lupfer Classic

Half & half choker - Cinderela B via Steph of faiiint
Faux leather jacket - Zara via carboot sale £1.00
'Classic' t-shirt dress - Markus Lupfer via Ebay £21.52
Molotov Kenta skinny jeans - All Saints £85
Frankie flats - Sam Edelman Birthday gift

Hello lovelies, it's moving week!! Sunday is the day of the big move, and we haven't started packing yet..! How has your week been so far? I'm excited tonight because tomorrow is the first time I'm going to meet a blogger in real life. I'm meeting the lovely Samantha of All I Know Now, for some retail therapy in Liverpool after Sam's Thailand injections. I can't wait!

This outfit is from last week, when Mark and I went shopping and then to Frankie and Benny's for dinner. I absolutely love my new Markus Lupfer piece, I love his use of embroidery and slogans and I just can't get enough. His iconic design is the sequin lips on jumpers, but I always lusted after that perfume bottle jumper. Maybe one day..!

I've been wearing the Classic t-shirt dress as a top rather than a dress, it's much more wearable for me this way and long sleeves are something I always look out for. It's the perfect fit, boxy with skinny fitted sleeves - my favourite. I'm sure at some point I will style this eye-catching piece as a dress, but for now it's making my casual outfits a little bit more special.

How would you style a slogan piece like this?

OOTD: Shopping in Maison Scotch

Dusky pink & black wool biker Maison Scotch via TK Maxx £30.00 sale
Love is the new black sweater Maison Scotch via Ebay around £30
Dreams scarf All Saints Christmas gift
Oversized tote bag Luella Birthday gift
Molotov Kenta jeans All Saints £75.00
Felicia ballet flats Sam Edelman via Brand Alley £35.00
Little Hex earrings Wolf & Moon £12.00
Love bracelet The Little Deer Welcome gift

Hello dear readers, I've been a little bit absent over the last week but I'm slowly making my way through all of my favourite reads. This is an outfit I wore to go shopping in Liverpool, there's a little bit of a love theme going on! This Maison Scotch jumper is my favourite, it has buttons up the back adding something a bit special. The pretty little bracelet was sent to me by The Little Deer when I became a part of their Blogger Programme. It's so delicate and feminine, not something I'd have picked for myself but a lovely addition to my outfit.

Sam Edelman makes the best ballet flats, this is my second pair and I'm in love. They're so comfortable, and I've had my first pair for over a year and they have hardly any signs of wear. If you're looking for the perfect ballet flat, I'd definitely give Sam Edelman a go.

What's your favourite sweater/hoodie like?
I'm lusting after a new one from Zoe Karssen!

OOTD: Thrown on casual

Bowler hat - Helene Berman via Ebay £7.50
Boucle jacket - River Island £25 sale
Floral wreath t-shirt - All Saints gift
Black biker seam jeans - Zara £9.99 sale
Leather Chelsea boots - TK Maxx £35
Embroidered brooch - given to me by my dad

This is one of those comfortable, thrown on kind of outfits that's slouchy enough for mooching around the supermarket on a Sunday afternoon (and buying an Easter egg, Gü desserts and chocolate muffins... do you think I was in a chocolate mood?).

This is one of my favourite t-shirts, and of course the beautiful design has the All Saints aesthetic written all over it. Paired with my trusty boucle jacket and my new Zara sale jeans, it makes for a casual daytime look. These Zara jeans have been worn pretty much non-stop since I got them, you can't see on the photos but they have biker-esque seams on the legs which make for a bit of added detail and some interesting leg patterns when I take them off.

Because of the thrown together feel I didn't want to add any jewellery, but this sweet little hand embroidered brooch was the perfect addition. It's one of my favourite things, and one of the treasures my dad gave to me. He was a treasure hunter, and loved having a rummage at car boot sales and a good bargain (see where I get it from?!).

What is your 'throw on' outfit?

My lovely friend Samantha of All I Know Now is raising funds to volunteer this Summer in Thailand. Any donations, however small, will help send Sam on her way. So even if you can only spare £1, please head over to Sam's JustGiving page and give what you can. It's for a great cause and Sam really deserves this amazing opportunity, if you're not familiar with her blog or her story then just know that Sam has come such a long way and I'm really proud!

OOTD: New hair & Blair Waldorf

Check headband - Burberry via Audrey
Half & half choker - Cinderela B via Steph of faiiint
Navy blazer - Zara via Barnardos charity shop £1.99
L/S top - Orla Kiely for Uniqlo around £14.90
Molotov Kenta skinny jeans - All Saints £85
Frankie flats - Sam Edelman Birthday gift
Gold & black leather chain bag - Vivienne Westwood via Ebay £102

Hello lovelies, I'm finally sharing my new hair with you! I had my hair done almost 5 weeks ago now, and I still love it just as much now as I did then. Me and my mum went to Paul Kavanagh Hair Studio nearby to where my mum lives. I've not had my hair salon coloured for many, many years, and I'm always reluctant to try someone new. Paul is a friend of the family, and my sister Willow's best friend's dad (did you get that?!).

On the whole I kept my hair my natural dark brown, and Paul put foils through the underneath - some caramel and some copper. It took a very long time (all day!!) and Paul was very precise, making sure everything was perfect and as we wanted it. He cut my hair too, and it's much more manageable now than before. I love it, it's exactly how I wanted it, colours and all! I love how subtle it is, but if I pin back the front section of my hair I can make it more noticeable.

I wore this lovely Burberry headband I won (thanks Audrey!), and loose straightener curls from the day before. I think this whole outfit has a Blair Waldorf feel to it - thanks mostly to the headband! How much of a bargain was this blazer?! In my local Barnardos, all clothes are £1.99 each!

Were you a Blair or Serena fan?
Don't forget my Ebay auctions end tonight!

OOTD: Green polka dot dress & Cinderela B

Bowler hat - Helene Berman via Ebay £7.50
Burgundy cable knit cardigan - Topshop gift
Green polka dot skater dress - River Island via ASOS gift (£22)
Super cosy black opaque tights - Primark £3
Leather Chelsea boots - TK Maxx £35
Half & half choker - Cinderela B via Steph of faiiint

Yesterday morning was a lazy Sunday morning; we sat in bed catching up with emails and playing with Rufus, who wanted to see us on one of his rare morning appearances. I wasn't in work and Mark wasn't in until 2pm, the sun was shining and we decided to go out and get some fresh air. We walked just a few steps from the house to the lane that leads to the Beacons, which is lovely.

This pretty dress was a Christmas gift from my mum, I'm pretty sure I saw it on someone's blog before Christmas and it had me at first sight (was it you?!). I love the crisp white collar and the little sleeves, the shape of the dress is lovely too. Surprisingly it was warm enough to not wear a coat, but thick tights and a cardigan were needed. I never wear a dress or skirt without tights anyway, my legs are that part of me that I don't like! I often find myself wishing dresses were that bit longer, but I'm not sure I'd find added length any more flattering on my legs - I wonder if wearing different coloured tights would help, because black is so defining & bold?

I'm quite fussy when it comes to jewellery, and this means that I buy less but I'm more careful in my choices. When I saw this Cinderela B necklace up for grabs on Steph's blog, I had to enter. I'm so lucky to have won the giveaway, I've found myself reaching for this necklace often. There's something about the delicate black agate in contrast with the chunky 22 carat gold chain that I just love. The first thing I thought was how versatile it would be, and it is. I love how the gold chain just peeks out from underneath my collar in this outfit and toughens it up a tiny bit. Cinderela B jewellery is handmade in Spitalfields, London and they have some beautiful Liberty fabric pieces.

How would you style this gorgeous necklace?

Christmas 2013: The photos

Hello you gorgeous lot, I thought I'd come and share some of my Christmas snaps with you before the festive season has passed. I had the most wonderful time with all of my family and Boxing Day with our dear friends. Christmas morning in the Brown household was pretty chaotic, what with three young children and the usual mountain of presents to get through. We all got some fabulous gifts and I can't wait to show you mine! There were about 500 photos from the two days, so to have whittled it down to these few collages was some mean feat!

Christmas Day

Christmas day did of course end with us watching all of the hour long soap episodes (Emmerdale, Corrie, Eastenders!), drinking Baileys and eating Pringles. And what Christmas would be complete without Bridget Jones?! We watched 1 on Christmas eve, and 2 on Christmas day. How cute is Indigo's bunny eared blanket?! I got it from H&M.

Boxing Day

Boxing day was also a wonderful day, a lazy morning followed by getting ready in the afternoon to see some of our nearest and dearest at our local village hall, which we usually hire out for Christmas day but mixed it up a bit this year. There was a bit of a funny moment when we realised we'd only brought wine with a cork, and didn't have a corkscrew..! We sorted it out in the end, and ate lots of nice buffet food followed by lots of delicious dessert.

The outfit

Lace top Mango via carboot sale £3.00
Black denim jeggings M&S Collection £7.00 sale
Lois flatforms Carvela Kurt Geiger Christmas gift
Oversized tote bag Luella Birthday gift
Pink gold Gem Aurora earrings Vivienne Westwood £55.00
Dusky pink & black wool biker Maison Scotch via TK Maxx £30.00 sale

I wore this same outfit to Mark's family's Christmas meal on the Sunday before Christmas. I love how easy to wear it is, but it still looks like I made a bit of an effort with the pretty lace top. This Maison Scotch jacket was most definitely my bargain of the year - originally around £200, I found it hidden on a coat sale rail in TK Maxx with a red sticker on the label at just £30. I didn't need another jacket at all, but I tried it on and the splash of colour is so unusual for me that I had to have it. I think the dusky pink is a shade I can get away with against my pale skin. I've had these Vivienne Westwood earrings for a while now, I wasn't sure on the drop at first but now I've really fallen in love with them.

Have you posted a Christmas period OOTD? Or a Christmas present post? Link me in the comments :)

OOTD: Trusty old tartan dress

Bowler hat - Helene Berman Ebay £7.50
Tartan dress - Primark (about 5 years ago) £11 ish
Oversized coat - Warehouse £30 in the sale
Super cosy black opaque tights - Primark £3
Daffodil pin - Marie Curie a donation
Honey fox brooch - Tatty Devine (gift from Mark) £35
Leather Chelsea boots - TK Maxx £35

Hello lovely readers, I'm back again with another tartan OOTD! I bought this tartan dress from Primark over five years ago for something silly like £11. I loved it at the time and I still love it now, I think it's so versatile. I even wore it on a night out once (that statement just led to Facebook night out album reminiscing!). It has a cowl style neck which is not usually something I like, but it just sits right on this dress especially if I pair it with a chunky black jumper.

Despite having bought it 5 years ago, I'm one of those lucky ones whose weight doesn't seem to change much. The only thing I will say is that the arms are definitely a bit tighter and more restrictive, but other than that it's still perfect with the nipped in waist and flared out skirt.

I was tempted by this year's tartan Primark offerings, but realised I probably didn't need to buy another one as I don't wear dresses all that often. I've seen some lovely OOTDs featuring tartan lately. This OOTD was actually a couple of weeks ago - when the weather wasn't as bitter as it is now and I could step outside bare armed without them falling off!!

Have any of you snapped up a tartan dress this season?

OOTD: Autumn leaf crown

Blue velvet smock dress - tba via Ebay around £50 I think
Autumn leaf crown - handmade (string 50p from Wilkinsons)

It's officially Autumn, now that I've been out and collected lovely golden leaves :) Mark & I have spent the past two days at home at my mum's. A few of us used to have a weekly craft night, and the organiser Lynn decided that we were going to have one again this Thursday, at my mum's. I used this opportunity to finally get around to making this gorgeous leaf crown, which I am absolutely in love with! I only had an hour at craft night as I spent a couple of hours with my best friends afterwards last night, giving baby girl gifts to my best friend who is due later this month (very exciting stuff!).

For this reason, I did half of my leaf crown last night & half this morning. I picked these leaves up from the green over the road from my mum's, you can see that some of the leaves are a bit crunchy and curled up today. It definitely would have been better if I'd have made and modeled the crown in the same day, but I don't love it any less!

I'm going to attempt a bit of a 'how to' for my leaf crown, including my inspirations and where I took the idea from. It will be up next week and I will link it here then too :)

OOTD: Tartan layering

Bowler hat - Helene Berman Ebay £7.50
Zip back top - Zara via Ebay around £6
Burgundy pencil skirt - Topshop via charity shop £2.99
Super cosy black opaque tights - Primark £3
Check shawl - Matalan £8 with discount code
Leather Chelsea boots - TK Maxx £34.99

Happy Halloween lovelies! I know my outfit posts are few and far between, but I'm often a lazy dresser! I'm also unhappy with my hair at the moment, I thought having a cut would help but I still dislike it! I just don't know what to do with it and end up wearing it tied up all the time. I'm thinking of having it dyed or having a fringe or something, I'm just indecisive!

I don't wear many colours generally, so this burgundy pencil skirt is unusual for me. I couldn't resist it at this price in the charity shop though! I like how it looks with the oversized Zara top over it, and the zip detailing down the back of the top makes it less plain. This is one of my favourite tops, I have a polkadot one too. The sleeves are fitted but the body is oversized - my favourite! With the pencil skirt being obviously fitted, I knew I'd need to wear something oversized on my top half as I'm quite body conscious and prefer to layer up and more importantly cover up!

Speaking of cover ups, how gorgeous is this check shawl from Matalan? I saw this over on Charissa's blog, and when I realised it was just £10 knew I had to have it. Luckily for me, there was 20% off when I ordered, and free delivery to store - bargain! It really is like a big tartan blanket, that's shaped to fit around the back of your neck and to go over your arms. It's so comfortable and warm, and I can't wait to get more wear out of it this season.

It was lust at first sight between me and my Chelsea boots. On our trip back to the Lakes, we popped into Lancaster town for a spot of shopping. I'd been searching for the perfect pair of leather Chelsea boots that fit well for a long time. I first saw these in brown and said to Mark 'these would be perfect in black'... and on the next shelf there they were! One pair of black leather Chelsea boots in my exact size - 6 and a half. It was meant to be!

Have you got any Halloween plans? Mark & I are going to watch The Nightmare Before Christmas (which Mark has never seen!!!) and carve our own pumpkins together for the first time.

OOTD: Monochrome Markus Lupfer & Vera Meat

Bowler hat - Helene Berman Ebay £7.50
Textured zip-up jacket H&M £2 via carboot
Full skater skirt Warehouse £17 sale (was £45)
Cat On A Hot Tin Roof ring Vera Meat via Asos £13.95 student discount & sale (was £52)
'found' tshirt Markus Lupfer adopted from mum's wardrobe, originally via Ebay

This outfit is from a couple of weeks ago, when Mark & I went on a date night to see Monster's University (which is awesome!). I fell in love with this jacket when I saw it on the carboot sale, but sadly being a size large it is a bit too big for me and therefore not very flattering at all from the front. This is one of my favourite tshirts, and Markus Lupfer another favourite designer. My mum has the white 'lost' tshirt which compliments this one, but I adopted this after the white applique turned slightly grey in the wash - hurrah for me, one mumma bear's loss is a great gain to me.

A little while ago, I won a £50 Asos voucher thanks to the lovely Sarah at Temporary Secretary. One of the things I chose to use the voucher for was this Vera Meat ring, I'd had my eye on it for such a long time and couldn't resist it at a fraction of it's original price. Thank you again Sarah!

What do you think of my first try at monochrome? :)

p.s. This is my 200th post!! I have a 150 follower giveaway planned for September :) hello lovely followers!
